We are a group of enthusiasts who meet once a month to socialise and share knowledge in this unique art form.
We offer an opportunity to bring in trees for display or advice, attend workshops and discuss styling and shaping or just chat about bonsai in a friendly environment.
The Toowoomba Bonsai Group Inc. meets at the Rose Cottage in Newtown Park, Newtown, corner of Holberton St and Pottinger St, on the first Saturday of each month at 10 am to 4 pm.
To provide a meeting place for people interested in Bonsai to come together to share information, skills, experience, and resources in a friendly environment. New members are welcome to come and join -either long time enthusiasts or newcomers to the art of bonsai.
The Toowoomba Bonsai Group was founded in August 1977 and our present membership includes members from the late 1970’s through to the present. Currently there are 40+ members.
The Group has an extensive reference library consisting of books, magazines, dvds, and videos. There is no charge for borrowing items from the library for members. We also have a selection of power tools for use by members at the club.
Held on the 1st Saturday of each month, the Toowoomba Bonsai Group Inc. meets at the Rose Cottage in Newtown Park, Newtown, corner of Holberton St and Pottinger Streets, from 10 am to 4 pm.
Members can bring along trees to work on, and if required help is available from experienced members on horticultural, style or general care of bonsai. A “show and tell” session on the display trees brought along by members and short talks on bonsai topics round off the day.
Demonstrations/Workshop by Visiting Tutors:
The Group organises for accredited visiting professional bonsai tutors to come along to the club twice a year for members to take advantage of expert help.
Each month members receive a copy of the Group’s newsletter in the week prior to the meeting. Members can choose to receive it by normal post or email. The newsletter contains cultural notes for the seasons, articles on bonsai, upcoming events and Group news.
Held in September during the Carnival of Flowers celebrations. Members are encouraged to display their favourite trees and help over the three day show.
The Group tries to organise a bus trip to a bonsai show and/or bonsai nursery each year. This is an ideal opportunity to buy pre-trained trees, bonsai, tools, pots, wire and soil.
$40.00 single membership, $45.00 family membership.
