...November Meeting, 2014....
Record numbers and a hive of activity
Due to changes in venue requirements, for the November meeting, the Toowoomba Bonsai Group relocated a few doors down within the CEDAR Centre. As you can see from the photos, we had wonderful airconditioned surrounds for the many members that turned up for some great bonsai times. The following extract from the club's newsletter sums it all up..... thanks editor!
"The November meeting had a real buzz going. It was great to see so many members and so many trees arrive for the workshop, and also good to see members enjoying both working on their own trees as well as talking to other members about bonsai matters. Being able to call on the experience and advice of other members to help us along the bonsai path has been, and still is a cornerstone of our club, and it is great to see it still exists after 37 years. Long may it continue.
It was good to see the progress of the “broom style” elm and watch Craig explain and demonstrate the next stage. I hope this tree finds its way back to the club regularly to update its styling.
I have long been an advocate of the “show and tell” display tree section of the meeting, where members can bring along nominated species or styled trees, but also any trees they would like to show because they look good, or else have some problem which the collective minds of the members can help solve. This is not a time to have the “best trees” on display, but a time for trees in all stages of training to be shown by all members, no matter how experienced."
Please enjoy the photos of the November meeting. We hope to see you at the December meeting or in the new year!
